About

Vision

Our Vision is to create ‘tailored’ programs that help build confidence and self-esteem in all children.

Especially those children with greater risk factors; whilst also raising awareness in the community about not often talked about conditions which affect children.

At Children’s Charity Network, we try to distance ourselves from words such as “vulnerable” or “disabled”. We believe each child is unique and each child has special talents, even though he/she may have a “weakness” in a particular area (sports, reading, writing, social skills, etc) or might suffer from certain medical conditions (e.g., ADHD, epilepsy etc) which makes it more challenging for him/her to perform at the same academic level as his/her peers.

It is our belief at Children’s Charity Network that every child’s efforts should be celebrated and rewarded and that it is their effort rather than ‘perfect performances’ that we should be praising/reinforcing in children. We focus on children’s strengths and we acknowledge and celebrate their talents whatever they might be through our different Awards.

We believe that by highlighting the positives, we bring the best out in each child and we give children the opportunity to believe in themselves and that they are capable of succeeding in life.

Through our programs and initiatives, children learn to be proud of what they can achieve rather than ashamed by what they cannot achieve. Our awards are an opportunity for their talents, strengths and personal attributes to become the focus; and theses areas become acknowledged in a public way where possible.

We believe by gaining confidence and self-esteem, children become more resilient and are better equipped to thrive to achieve their goals in life and fulfill their dreams; whatever these dreams may be.

Fostering and nurturing confidence and self-esteem in a child is one of the best gifts one could give a child.

In Memory of Rob Leonard, Our Founder

It is with great sadness that the Board of Directors, staff, and myself from the Children’s Charity Network must inform you of the passing of our founder, Mr Rob Leonard, following a 14-month battle with Cancer. We pass our condolences to Rob’s friends and family at this terrible time.

Rob was a wonderful, caring man with a passion for service and charity. His vision to influence young Australians through literacy 25 years ago has impacted thousands, who will all be saddened by this news. In honour of Rob, I look forward to growing his vision and continuing to advocate for the value of literacy and arts.

Please take a moment to reflect upon Rob’s impact on you, and remember his uncompromising belief in the power of Art and Writing.

Rob, you will be truly missed but never far away from our thoughts.

May Rob’s memory be a blessing.
