Support How To Receive Funds

Our priorities for support include:

Programs that provide continuing nutrition to primary and secondary aged children;

Programs that are already established and operating and affiliated with a community organization (eg. a school, social service agency) to whom they report regularly;

Programs that have a significant component of volunteer labour, and local donations of cash and food;

Programs that require financial assistance for continuing operations costs.

Capital expenditures and start-up grants are not a priority for The Children’s Charity Network.

Once a group has completed and submitted The Children’s Charity Network’s Application Form, they will be notified shortly whether they will receive funding, and how  much.

Funds are distributed on a bi-monthly basis.

Regular reporting of how funds are being used is required by The Children’s Charity Network. (See Appendix A for application and reporting details.

 A Story from the Frontlines

Our inner city neighbourhood has many immigrants who speak English as a second language, if at all. There are also many single parents and low income families.

We were aware that there were many children struggling academically because they weren’t getting breakfast at home. Someone brought this to the school council meeting and it was unanimously approved. The local Lions Club donated start-up money.

We started in April and ran the snack program two days a week. This enabled us to get our “feet wet”, so that by September we were ready to run five days a week. Because of pride issues, everyone gets the snack, not just those in need.”
